GOST ISO 6942-2011 Protective Clothing Radiant Heat Resistant Test Equipment
The thermal radiation resistance tester is used to determine the thermal radiation protection performance of protective materials, which meets the test standards of ISO 6942 and EN 366. The instrument consists of two testing methods. Method A is used to visually evaluate the appearance changes of the material after thermal radiation. Method B measures the radiation heat transfer index (RHTI) of the material by measuring the test time required to raise the back temperature of the sample by 12 or 24 degrees, and then determines the thermal protection performance of the material.
Performance Characteristics
  • The convective heat resistance test device is composed of radiation device, sample bracket, data acquisition and software system.
  • The thermal radiation device is composed of six Glowbar heat radiation tubes with working temperature not less than 1100 degrees.
  • Sample clamping device is cooled and protected by circulating water cooling device.
  • Copper plate calorimeter made of oxygen-free superconducting copper is used to measure the heat radiation flux.
  • The sample holder can move horizontally, and the heat radiation flux can be determined by different positions.
  • Equipped with weighting device, it can be used to apply 2N standard gravity to the sample.
  • Data acquisition system can record heat radiation flux, temperature, time and other parameters.
  • Equipped with computer and printer device, it can output data and print test report.
Product Information
The radiation source shall consist of six heating rods made of silicon carbide (SiC) with the following characteristics:
  • Overall length: (356 ± 2) mm
  • Length of the heating section: (178 ± 2) mm
  • Diameter: (7.9 ± 0.1) mm
  • Electric resistance: 3.6 Ω ± 10% at a temperature of 1070°C
The rods shall be mounted horizontally in a single vertical plane in a U-shaped frame made of insulating, non-combustible material. The six rods are divided into two groups, with three rods in each group connected in series. Both groups are connected in parallel and connected to a 220 V power source through an additional resistor with a nominal value of 1 ohm.
Curved copper plate calorimeter: The copper plate weight must be between 35.9 and 36.0 g.
Non-combustible asbestos-free thermal insulation board, 25 mm thick (90 mm × 90 mm). The characteristics of this board must meet the following requirements:
  • Density: (750 ± 50) kg/m³
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.18 W/(m ∙ K) ± 10%
The incident heat flux density levels are selected according to the following criteria:
  • Low levels: 5 to 10 kW/m²
  • Medium levels: 20 to 40 kW/m²
  • High level: 80 kW/m² and higher
