Q1: What is this equipment used for?
This machine tests office chair armrests for strength and durability under BIFMA X5.1 standards. It performs vertical/horizontal static load tests and cyclic durability tests to verify product reliability and certification compliance.
Q2: What standards does it comply with?
It complies with ANSI/BIFMA X5.1-2017 (Clauses 10.4, 12, 13, 20), GB/T 10357.3-2013, EN 1728-2012, EN 581, and ISO 7173-1989.
Q3: How does the test machine work?
The machine uses pneumatic cylinders controlled by a servo-proportional valve to apply precise loads to armrests. The PLC touchscreen lets you set test parameters, monitor progress, and automatically stop at preset cycle counts.
Q4: What armrest heights can be tested?
The adjustable fixture accommodates armrest heights from 550 mm to 950 mm, covering most standard office chair configurations.
Q5: How many test cycles can it run?
You can set test cycles from 1 to 999,999. The machine automatically shuts down when the preset count is reached.
Q6: What power and air supply are required?
It requires a 1∮ AC 220V power supply and an air source of at least 0.5 MPa.
Functional Load Test/Proof Load Test: A force of 334 N (75 lbf.) shall be applied once to each front leg individually for one (1) minute. Remove the force.
Proof Load Test: Similar with functional load test, but the force is 503 N (113 lbf)
Functional Load: A force of 750 N (169 lbf.) shall be applied for one (1) minute. Remove the force.
Proof Load: A force of 1125 N (253 lbf.) shall be applied for one (1) minute. Remove the force.
Functional Load: A force of 445 N (100 lbf.) shall be applied for one (1) minute in the outward direction. Remove the force.
Proof Load: A force of 667 N (150 lbf.) shall be applied for one (1) minute in the outward direction. Remove the force.
Test Procedure: Simultaneously apply a force of 400 N (90 lbf.) to each arm initially at a 10 degrees ± 1 degree angle as shown in Figure 20b. The arm loading device must follow the arm (allow fore and aft, side-to-side and rotational movement) as it deflects or pivots. If using a test device similar to that shown in Figure 20b, the load application distance must initially be the length specified in the figure. Other methods of applying the load are acceptable if the force and angle applications are equivalent. The force shall be applied and removed for 60,000 cycles at a rate between 10 and 30 cycles per minute.
