Product Overview: Crude Oil Density Tester (ASTM D1298)

The density meter is designed to measure the density of transparent, low-viscosity liquids as well as viscous liquids. Density refers to the mass of a substance contained in a unit volume at a specified temperature. The density of petroleum products increases with higher carbon, oxygen, and sulfur content in their composition. Consequently, petroleum products with more aromatic hydrocarbons, resins, and asphaltenes exhibit higher density, those with more cycloalkanes fall in the mid-range, and those with more alkanes show the lowest density. Therefore, by determining the density (or specific gravity) of petroleum products, the type and composition of oil products can be assessed to a certain extent. This instrument is widely used in petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, electric power, transportation, commodity inspection, scientific research, and other industries.
