SATRA TM411:2019 – ‘Peel strength of footwear sole bonds’ is intended to test the strength of the bond
at numbers of points around the lasted margin of finished footwear.
The revision is mainly about accuracy of measurement of the bonded width of specimens, which is important for correctly determining the quality of the bond.
It also now requires tostate the width of the bonded margin, because this contributes to determine the overall strength of the bond in conjunction with its quality.
For sandal straps, the minimum strap width has increased in the revision.
The revision gives more details about optional aging pre-treatments.
