In June 2014, the bicycle safety standard ISO 4210:2014 and the children's bicycle safety standard ISO8098:2014 were officially announced on the ISO official website, which will replace the old ISO 4210:1996 and ISO 8098:2002 standards. ISO 8098:2014 specifies the safety performance requirements and test methods for fully assembled or partially assembled bicycles intended for use by children. The standard defines a children's bicycle as: "a bicycle whose saddle height is greater than 435mm and less than 635mm, and which is driven by the rear wheel." The standard adds 15 new testing requirements, introduces a number of fatigue tests, and conducts 25 testing methods Revise. In particular, the newly added toxicity safety requirements, front fork bending fatigue test, pedal impact test and crank mechanism fatigue test have put forward more severe tests for baby carriage companies and related spare parts manufacturers.

ISO 4210:2014 specifies the safety performance requirements and test methods for fully assembled or partially assembled bicycles. The standard is divided into 9 parts, and bicycles are divided into 4 categories by their high saddle height, as follows:

1. City bicycle: high saddle height 635mm and above;

2. Bicycles for young people: high saddle height 635mm and above but less than 750mm;

3. Mountain bike: High saddle height 635mm and above;

4. Racing cars: high saddle height of 635mm and above; In addition, ISO 4210:2014 added 11 new testing requirements and revised 35 testing methods.

According to the information published on the official website of the European Standards Committee CEN, the existing EN series standards for bicycles in the European Union will be completely replaced by the new ISO standards. It is revoked. On January 31, 2015, the EN ISO 4210:2014 standard will come into force, the existing EN 14764/EN 14766/EN 14781 standard will be withdrawn, and the EN15194 electric power bicycle standard will not be affected for the time being.
