Petroleum products flash point and ignition point tester (Cleveland open cup method) test steps are as follows.
1, at any temperature the specimen into the test cup, so that the top of the curved moon surface is exactly to the loaded specimen inscription line. If too much specimen is injected into the test cup, use a pipette or other appropriate tool to remove the excess specimen. If the specimen is stained on the outside of the apparatus, pour out the specimen, wash it and reload it. To remove the air bubbles on the surface of the specimen.
Note: 1. viscous specimen should be injected into the specimen cup before heating to be able to flow, but the heating temperature should not exceed 56 ℃ before the expected flash point of the specimen. 2. containing dissolved or free water specimens can be dehydrated with calcium chloride, filtered with quantitative filter paper or loose dry skim cotton.
2. Ignite the test flame, and adjust the flame diameter to about 4 mm. If the apparatus is installed on the metal comparative small ball, the same diameter as the metal comparative small ball.
3, start heating, the specimen temperature rise rate of 14 ~ 17 ℃ per minute. When the specimen temperature reaches the expected flash point before 56 ℃, slow down the heating speed, control the heating speed, so that in the flash point before about **28 ℃, for 5 ~ 6 ℃ per minute.
4, in the expected flash point before 28 ℃, began to use the test flame sweep row, the temperature on the thermometer every 2 ℃, sweep row. Test flame shall be in the diameter of the thermometer through the right-angle line across the middle of the test cup. Sweep with a smooth, continuous motion, sweeping in a straight line or along a radius of at least 150 mm to carry out. The middle of the test flame must be moved in a plane within 2 mm of the upper edge of the test cup, first in one direction, and then in the opposite direction. The time required for the test flame to cross the test cup each time is about 1 second.
5, when the specimen liquid surface at any point of the flash fire, immediately note down the temperature reading on the thermometer as the flash point. But do not confuse the light blue halo sometimes produced around the test flame with the flash point.
6, if you also need to determine the ignition point, then you should continue to heat, . So that the specimen heating rate of 5 ~ 6 ℃ per minute, continue to use the test flame, the specimen every 2 ℃ on the sweeping stroke, until the specimen on fire, and can burn continuously for not less than 5 seconds, then immediately read the temperature from the thermometer as a result of the determination of the ignition point.
