Flammable plastic components and wire insulation inside electronic devices can easily cause short-circuit fires.

Plastic Enclosure Testing: Using the UL 94 standard, plastic samples are formed into test strips of specific dimensions and burned horizontally or vertically. Materials are classified as V0, V1, or V2 based on indicators such as burning speed and whether dripping ignites the cotton underneath. For example, mobile phone charger casings must meet the V0 rating to ensure rapid self-extinguishing in the event of a short-circuit fire.

Wire and Cable Testing: Bundled burning tests evaluate the flame spread rate and smoke production of multiple cables burning simultaneously, ensuring that cables within buildings or vehicles do not accelerate the spread of fire.
