How to detect the abrasion resistance performace of material rubber, EVA and other crosslinked

Use SATRA TM174:2016 detection method

 

This method is used to assess the abrasion resistance of a material. It is mainly used to polymeric footwear soling materials or suitable material cut from finished soles. This method can be applied on any polymer based sheet material.

 

2.Principle

A circular test specimen is placed in contact. At the same time the test specimen is under a constant force with a rotating cylinder which is covered with a standard abrasive cloth.

 

To traversea helical contact path with the abrasive, the specimen is then moved along the length of the cylinder. There is two ways to determine he volume loss of the specimen including dividing its mass loss by its average density or measuring change in displacement volume.

 

The degree of the abradant severity is verified by abrading a reference material.

Usage: Solings - polyurethane;PVC, TR and other thermoplastic;rubber, EVA and other crosslinked
